Documentaries at Roadburn 2010; Japanese Extreme Metal The Documentary
Posted: March 9, 2010 at 8:41 pmOnce again the V39 basement will serve as the screening room for several documentaries during the festival. The V39 is directly across from the main entrance to the 013.
We are proud to announce that in cooperation with Visual Justice Films we will be showing Japanese Extreme Metal, The Documentary. A documentary that transcends stereotypes and entrenched perceptions of nationality, society and subcultures. Japanese Extreme Metal: The Documentary is the brainchild of Mark Keller, the singer for the Tokyo based band Detritum.
Keller is a 14 year veteran of Japan and his fascinating exposé of the extreme metal scene in this supposedly ...read more
Roadburn Festival’s annual Metal Disco returns: now in two locations!
Posted: March 3, 2010 at 1:21 pmWe’re proud to announce that our annual Metal Disco featuring DJ sets by Orange Goblin’s Ben and Chris will be part of the 2010 Roadburn festivities. The disco has acquired a legendary reputation over the years. Raucous singalongs and gleeful stagediving from the booth are not uncommon as each night wears on.
Once again Orange Goblin and Roadburn’s Maarten & Patrick are looking forward to spinning lots of excellent music over the course of the three days. Whether it’s classic metal, doom, heavy 70s rock, stoner or thrash, you’re bound to hear something you like. Expect some guest deejays, too!

Darkspace confirmed for Tom Warrior’s Only Death Is Real at Roadburn 2010
Posted: February 22, 2010 at 1:09 pmWe are thrilled to announce that Darkspace has been confirmed for Tom Gabriel Warrior’s Only Death Is Real at Roadburn Festival 2010.
Having been described as “the black metal equivalent of the Eraserhead soundtrack”, there is little doubt that Switzerland’s Darkspace is one of the most esoteric bands in metal today. Solely on strength of their visionary records and excellent live shows, Darkspace has earned a reputation for innovation and excellence in the music underground.
Darkspace’s sound is hallucinatory, their brand of organic black metal induces rapture with pummeling/pulsing bass and guitar work swirling into amorphous, bleak clouds of noise, drone and ...read more
Soilent Green pulls out of Afterburner event; Outlaw Order replacement headliner. Samsara Blues Experiment added to Roadburn Festival 2010
Posted: February 10, 2010 at 8:39 amWe’re very sorry to report that Soilent Green has pulled out of the 2010 Roadburn Afterburner event, set to take place, Sunday, April 18th at the 013 venue, Tilburg, Holland.
Soilent Green’s Tommy Buckley, who is also in Crowbar, will be on tour, supporting Sepultura with Crowbar in April. There’s a conflict in both touring schedules, so Soilent Green’s European tour has been postponed. Luckily, we have OUTLAW ORDER replacing Soilent Green as the main headliner of the afterburner event.
However, this means that Outlaw Order won’t be playing the main festival on Thursday, April 15th. It took quite an effort to ...read more

John Garcia To Perform Very Special Set At Roadburn Festival 2010
Posted: February 6, 2010 at 1:07 pmRoadburn is beyond thrilled to announce JOHN GARCIA plays Kyuss at Roadburn Festival 2010.
As the legendary frontman of Kyuss, JOHN GARCIA really needs no further introduction, but here’s one anyway. The incredible emotional content of Kyuss is due in large part to the vocals of JOHN GARCIA. Deeply rooted in blues and baked solid by the searing desert sun, his powerful contributions to the classic Kyuss records Blues for the Red Sun, Kyuss (aka “Sky Valley”) and Circus Leaves Town cast the mold for a legion of imitators. Backed by a band of highly accomplished musicians, JOHN GARCIA will perform ...read more
Earthless confirmed to play Roadburn Festival on Thursday, April 15th
Posted: February 5, 2010 at 11:31 amWe are thrilled to announce the return of Earthless to the Roadburn stage on Thursday, 15 April 2010.
Earthless were among the undisputed highlights of the 2008 edition of the festival. The story behind the recording of Earthless — Live at Roadburn has been documented widely by various sites and magazines over the past two years, but in case you missed it: the band was originally scheduled to play in the Bat Cave, the smallest of the three venues within the 013 complex. At the very last minute they were switched to the Main Stage, where they proceeded ...read more
Russian Circles confirmed to play Roadburn Festival on Thursday, April 15th
Posted: February 4, 2010 at 7:41 pmWe are very pleased to report that Russian Circles has been confirmed for Thursday, 15 April 2010.
Chicago’s Russian Circles will be returning to Europe in support of their latest album Geneva, which has garnered praise from longtime fans and new converts alike. The band’s third LP combines a clean, riffs upfront approach with a blissful pulse and flow, wailing feedback and heart-pounding bass. Featuring borderline military precision, Russian Circles’ sophisticated yet warm take on postrock goes straight to the heart of the music, setting the band apart from many of their peers.
Russian Circles is ...read more
Dive confirmed for Tom Gabriel Warrior’s Only Death Is Real at Roadburn Festival 2010
Posted: February 1, 2010 at 2:08 pmWe are proud to announce that DIVE has been confirmed for Tom Gabriel Warrior’s Only Death Is Real at Roadburn Festival 2010.
Dive is the brainchild of Belgium’s very own Dirk Ivens. Influenced by bands from the German and UK electronic / industrial scene, Dive released its first album in 1990. The album was very primitive, harsh and experimental, with lyrics about hope, death, love and fear, but it hit like 10,000 volts. The debut led to many albums with an evolving sound, which consistently retained Dive’s underground, heavy and radical feel.
Dive creates maximum power using a minimum of equipment. Many ...read more
